 Q. Do I have to have the special Helix Shears to do this cut?

A. Yes, We provide a pair of Helix student shears for all of the classroom work.  The reason is clear after you have experienced this shear first hand.  If you are skeptical, that is okay too, and that thought is easily over come with just one Helix demonstration.

 Q. Why is it necessary for me as a stylist to have the Helix Shears?

A. Our cutting system has been scientifically proven in the study of Physics. Helix works and the answer is in the science. A complicated algebraic equation explains why and how it is possible. The Helix Hair Academy along many engineering professionals have simplified this equation for easy comprehension. The equation looks like this:

 abc
xy3

What this equation means to the hair stylist is:

The top part of the equation is the variable or things that change with each individual person; for example: hair length, thickness, natural curl, elasticity, hormonal issues, angle of stylists wrist movement, angle of the Helix Shear in the stylists hand and so much more.

The bottom part of the equation is the given components or things that DO NOT change; the exact degree of the curve in the Helix Shear blade and the exact degree of the Helix Shear torque. The 3 in the indicates the power in depth and gives the equation result a "3D" finish.

 Q. Why can’t I use the plain curved or straight shears that I already have?

A. Referencing the previous question; the bottom part of the equation CAN NOT be altered. Meaning, if you take away the "torque" of the blade or the curve, you will not get a Helix result.

The Helix Cutting System is focused on cutting a spiral “C” shape into the hair. Resulting in volume, texture and natural looking wave or curl. The top part of the equation will differ with each client; which is why no two people will have the same Helix result.

 Q. How much are the Helix Original Shears?

A.Quality with a lifetime guarantee. The investment is well worth the profit you will make as a Certified Helix Designer.   In-house, interest free financing is available and 99% are approved with a small deposit. Yes, a new pair of Helix shears can go home right then and your "Helix" income will easily pay for your new tool. We will show you how step by step and give you a few extra months to get started.

Q. I have fine, strait hair, will this cut work for me?

A. ABSOLUTLY yes! The Helix Cutting System gives the ability to produce more volume, movement, texture and wave or curl. A Certified Helix Designer knows the balance of physical science, technical cutting and general health of the hair to get these professional results.

 Q. I have course, naturally curly hair. What can I expect from a Helix Cut?

A. This customer prefers a more controlled curl or a balanced wave from scalp to ends and generally a healthy smooth look! This result is what "Phase Two"is all about.  We focus on problem hair issues like "cowlicks", "irregular growth patterns" and "naturally untamed curls" and even ethnic hair benefits with Helix.  This is truly an individualized specialty that will amaze both the customer and the stylist with achievable results instantly.

Q. Is there breakage of the hair after this type of cut?

A. No, Hair breakage is determined by the health and integrity of the hair and is absolutely the starting place for any professional service. It is essential for any wearer to be educated regarding the “How-To” achieve and maintain the maximum benefits of their Helix design.

 Q. Where can I find a Certified Helix Designer?

A. In the Graduates section of this website is a list of certified PHD (Professional Helix Designer) graduates. Helix designers are tested and re-certifiy every two years to ensure the educational integrity of the Helix Cutting System.  Search by state, city or last name of the designer for your selection. Also, the “Certified Helix Salons” section of this website lists by state, Helix Undergraduates that are training for their PHD.  All graduates have been tested at the current level of education before passing to the next level.

 Q. After I have had my first Helix how do I know when I have to get another one?

A. This depends on the average growth of the customers hair, an average is generally every 6 – 8 weeks and will vary. Depending on your hair's personal performance, some clients can go up to 10 or 12 weeks before having a “touch up”. It is not recommended to go more than 12 weeks.  Consider how a color treatment shows out growth, Only with Helix the base or new growth supports the crown area giving lift and volume, while the remaining shaft provides the direction and texture.
